Accentuate the Positive

I have wanted to start a blog for awhile now but never knew what I would write about.  It hit me today.  I recently became a Beachbody coach and am organizing a challenge group.  As a coach, my job is to be supportive and help motivate my people to meet their goals.  I know how hard it is to exercise and lose weight when you don't feel attractive.

I was once a person who was down on myself for being chubby, short, and at times, pretty clumsy (well, I'm still clumsy) but it was making me unhappy.  I needed to check my negative attitude at the door and find what I liked about me instead of focusing on what I don't like.

I figured I might as well have my challenge group start thinking positively as well so I gave them a mini challenge.  The mini challenge was to find two things we loved about ourselves, one physical, one not physical.  I got some great responses.  The challenge made them think about things as simple as "my ears" or "my eyes" or "my smile."  Things that we may overlook through negativity.

People tend to focus more on the negative (I'm one of the worst) and then dwell on it.  Sometimes it's easier because it gives us an excuse not to take care of ourselves.  There really is power in positive thinking and I'm making a change for the better.

That being said, I challenge you to pick two things (one physical, one not) everyday that you love about yourself and focus on that.  It may change the way you see yourself and the way others see you.
